About Laura
I qualified as a Specialist Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) in 2005 and have worked within Infant Feeding Specialist roles in the NHS since 2014. In 2017 I completed my Diploma in Breastfeeding and in 2018 I achieved my life-long ambition and qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2020 I furthered my education and trained as a tongue tie practitioner with Southampton University. I have a wealth of experience supporting families who are facing complex feeding challenges such as tongue tie, faltering growth or medical conditions. I understand that every feeding journey may look different and I always strive to provide holistic, individualised care to every family I support.
In my spare time I volunteer with The National Childbirth Trust (NCT). I am also a committee member with The Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners ( ATP) which enables me to keep up to date with the latest research in infant feeding and tongue tie.

About Sharon
I registered as a midwife in 2008 and found what I believed to be my niche when I commenced in post as a community midwife in 2010, where I was able to learn more and further develop skills in supporting families with infant feeding.
In 2015 my youngest son was born, my third difficult breastfeeding journey with tongue-tie diagnosed and divided at 3 weeks of age. I decided at this point that I would specialise in lactation consultancy and tongue tie division.
Prior to launching Tongue-Tie North West I worked in an NHS specialist infant feeding post whilst doing the Breastfeeding London Lactation Consultant Course, which gave me invaluable knowledge and experience of working with families with complex feeding difficulties and gave me the ability to underpin my practice with evidence based theory. I completed the Advanced Skills in the Management of Ankyloglossia (Tongue Tie Division) course at the University of Wolverhampton and consolidated my skills in a busy NHS clinic.
Laura Evans (the other half of Tongue-Tie North West) and I have become firm friends as well as business partners. Tongue-Tie North West was born of the realisation that we have the same vision for the provision of appropriate and timely infant feeding support in private practice and both value the importance of aftercare.

About Kat
I am absolutely thrilled to be working alongside the wonderful Laura and Sharon as a Clinic Assistant here at Tongue-Tie North West. Having previously worked with the team during our NHS days, saying "yes" to joining them again was an instant no-brainer. Their ethos of compassionate, expert care aligns perfectly with my own, and I love being a part of this dream team.
My background spans both the NHS and private sectors, where I’ve spent years supporting families, midwives, health visitors, and sonographers. I am also a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor (BFC) and am currently training to become an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I bring a wealth of clinical and specialist feeding experience to the clinic, including:
- Infant Feeding & Lactation Support: Providing specialist breastfeeding counselling, troubleshooting early feeding challenges, and running community drop-in groups.
- Clinical Care: Conducting baby weighs, growth charts, Day 5 newborn blood spot (heel prick) testing, and adult blood tests.
- Parent Education: Teaching starting solids classes, hypnobirthing, and leading prenatal education sessions.
- Early Years Development: Offering expert guidance on sleep, eating, behaviour, toileting, and completing developmental checks.
- Birth Support: Acting as a second attendant at home births during my time with one-to-one.

Beyond the Clinic: Mama Magic
When I’m not at the clinic, I run Mama Magic, where I work as a self-employed birth and postnatal doula, parent educator and supporter. In my doula practice, I support families in a non-clinical way, blending my professional knowledge with holistic care. I am a qualified hypnobirthing teacher and early years specialist providing parenting coaching along with my many skills, and I also love capturing those precious, fleeting moments through birth and early days photography sessions.

We have plenty of other experience that helps us in our day-to-day roles too, including being a qualified midwife, a qualified health visitor and having both spent time in NHS infant feeding leadership roles. You can rest assured that we both work within the NMC code of practice and uphold our professional standards.
We have come together to provide a holistic and family-centred service so when you take a look at our pricing structure, there aren't individual service available. Our packages include aftercare with face-to-face follow ups as standard. Experience has taught us the value and importance of having these follow up appointments in place and the importance of new parents feeling well supported is well documented.

We are able to offer appointments both in a clinic setting or at your home (dependent on location) and although we prefer to see you face to face, we are happy to arrange telephone or virtual consultations, where appropriate, to suit your needs.
